Speech-Language Therapy
The mission of the Sachem Speech-Language Department is to strengthen proficiency in the use of all forms of communication, comprehension and expression of spoken and written language, as well as, the development of thinking and reasoning skills, for personal, academic, and social interaction of all students in the Sachem community. We in Sachem recognize the connection between performance on State tests and the Learning Standards, as well as, the necessity for strong skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The areas of speech-language include: auditory processing, semantics, abstract reasoning, problem solving, pragmatics, syntax and morphology, written expression, articulation, phonology, oral motor skills, voice, and fluency.
